State Grant Funding Helps Preserve 80th District History, Barger Says

HARRISBURG — State grant funding has been awarded to two organizations working to preserve the history of the 80th Legislative District, according to Rep. Scott Barger (R-Blair/Huntingdon).

The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) awarded the grants through its Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program, which provides operating support to museums and historical organizations that preserve and share Pennsylvania’s heritage.

The Blair County Historical Society and the Huntingdon County Historic Society will each receive $9,500. The Blair County funding will help cover operational costs, including utilities and insurance, to support the Baker Mansion History Museum. In Huntingdon County, the grant will help pay for maintenance, conservation supplies and special exhibits.

“These grants support local historical preservation and enrich programming that serves residents and visitors alike,” Barger said. “Our county historical societies do a great job keeping history accessible, engaging and alive for future generations. I am glad to see their efforts supported by this funding.”
