Verobish, Barger to Answer Questions about Data Centers
August 17, 2026
ALTOONA – Reps. Andrea Verobish (R-Blair) and Scott Barger (R-Blair/Huntingdon) will host an informational meeting about data centers Thursday, Sept. 24, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Blair County Convention Center.
The representatives intend to share a presentation about the state’s preparation for the projected influx of data centers, with a specific focus on the centers’ power needs. They will answer questions after the initial presentation.
“Every day, we read a new headline about data center development somewhere in Pennsylvania,” Barger said. “Lawmakers are considering several proposals that affect that development. In particular, there is bipartisan agreement these developers need to provide their own sources of electricity.”
“Regardless of where these centers are built, they have the potential to greatly impact our regional power grid. Our constituents are rightfully concerned about these centers being incorporated into Pennsylvania via smart, deliberate development,” Verobish said.
Barring technical difficulties, the informational meeting will be livestreamed at both RepBarger.com and RepVerobish.com.
Those planning to attend at the convention center, 1 Convention Center Drive in Altoona, are asked to RSVP by Sept. 18 by visiting either representative’s website and clicking the “events” tab on the top. The RSVP form includes an opportunity to submit a question for the event.
