Grant, Loan Awarded for Martinsburg Water Project, Barger Says

July 15, 2026

HARRISBURG – More than $11 million in grants and loans has been awarded to the Martinsburg Municipal Authority for infrastructure improvements within the local water system, according to Rep. Scott Barger (R-Blair/Huntingdon).

The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) selected Martinsburg for almost $5.2 million in grants and $5.9 million in low-interest loans to build a 300,000-gallon water tank, rehabilitate an existing tank and replace some pipes.

“Access to safe, clean drinking water is essential to the quality of life that makes Pennsylvania communities great. This investment will help local leaders strengthen critical infrastructure while keeping costs manageable for taxpayers and water customers,” Barger said.

Part of the project includes replacing antiquated cast iron pipes with PVC ones.

PENNVEST provides low-cost financial assistance for projects that improve drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.
