Verobish, Barger Announce More Than $184,000 in Impact Fees to Support Blair County

June 17, 2026

BLAIR – More than $184,000, collected in natural gas impact fees in 2025, will be distributed among Blair County and its municipalities, Reps. Andrea Verobish (R-Blair) and Scott Barger (Blair/Huntingdon) announced today.

Blair County government will receive $144,491 and 25 municipalities will collectively receive $39,548.

“Having a rich natural gas industry in Pennsylvania plays a vital role in our economy and energy production. This funding continues that impact by investing directly in our communities,” Verobish said. “These fees are essential for supporting programs and projects in Blair County without placing any additional burden on taxpayers.”

Fees are collected from drilling companies with 60% returned to counties and municipalities affected by drilling. The other 40% goes into the Marcellus Shale Legacy Fund, which supports statewide environmental initiatives, greenways and infrastructure projects.

“Pennsylvania is fortunate to have so much natural gas right below our feet. Our state not only benefits from the natural gas industry’s contributions to our robust energy portfolio, but also these impact fees that help municipal governments provide services to our friends and neighbors,” Barger said.

Payments are expected to be distributed in early July.
