Grant Awarded for Railroad Bridge, Barger Says
January 22, 2026
HARRISBURG – A $285,000 grant awarded today will help Everett Railroad replace the approach, substructure and bridge deck on one of its railroad spans in Freedom Township, according to Rep. Scott Barger (R-Blair/Huntingdon).
The local project was among 30 receiving nearly $53 million in investments from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) under two rail freight programs.
“Blair County grew and became what it is today based on railroads and their contributions to industry,” Barger said. “This project will help Everett Railroad position itself to continue contributing to Blair County’s economy for many years to come.”
Pennsylvania has 65 operating railroads, which is more than any other state in the nation.
